Too often, we believe we must have every answer before taking the first step. We wait for the perfect timing, the ideal opportunity, or complete confidence before pursuing the dreams placed on our hearts. Yet purpose rarely unfolds that way. More often, it begins quietly, inviting us to trust the process long before we can see the destination.
I have discovered that purposeful beginnings are not defined by perfection; they are defined by intention.
When I founded DS&P Ladies™ and later established The DS&P Foundation, Inc., I did not begin because every detail had already been figured out. I began because I believed there was a greater purpose to fulfill, a calling to encourage women, strengthen families, build community, and create opportunities that would extend far beyond my own journey.
Purpose has a remarkable way of shaping us as we pursue it.
It teaches resilience when obstacles appear. It develops patience when progress seems slow. It builds character through challenges and reminds us that every experience, whether celebrated or difficult, can become part of a greater story.
Purpose also invites stewardship. The gifts, talents, experiences, and opportunities entrusted to each of us are not meant to remain dormant. They are meant to be cultivated, shared, and used to serve others with excellence, integrity, and compassion.
For me, faith has always been the foundation of purpose. I believe that our lives are most meaningful when our ambitions are aligned with service, our success is measured by impact, and our leadership reflects humility, wisdom, and love. Purpose is not simply about what we accomplish. It is about who we become along the way and how our lives influence those around us.
Every purposeful beginning carries the potential to create a lasting legacy.
The conversation you start today may encourage someone tomorrow. The organization you build may serve generations you will never meet. The act of kindness you offer today may become the turning point in another person's life. We often underestimate the significance of small, faithful beginnings because we cannot yet see their full impact.
