There is something special about arriving somewhere you’ve never been before. The anticipation, the unfamiliar surroundings, and the excitement of knowing that new memories are waiting to be made.
Our journey to Vietnam began long before we landed in Hanoi. There were months of planning, conversations, preparations, and excitement about everything we hoped to experience.
But nothing quite compares to finally being there.
Arriving in Hanoi on October 23, 2026, I was immediately reminded of one of the things I love most about traveling: the opportunity to step outside the familiar and experience life through a different cultural lens.
Hanoi welcomed us with its unmistakable energy. The movement of the streets, the architecture, the sounds, and the rhythm of everyday life made it clear that we had entered a place with a story all its own.
And I was ready to discover it.
Discovering the Heart of Hanoi
From the historic Old Quarter to the beauty surrounding Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Hanoi offered something new around every corner.

Our visits to St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the Temple of Literature, and Hỏa Lò Prison gave us opportunities to appreciate different dimensions of Vietnam’s history.
Some experiences were simply beautiful. Others invited deeper reflection.
That’s one of the things I appreciate about traveling. Not every memorable moment needs to be grand or glamorous. Sometimes the moments that stay with us are those that encourage us to observe, learn, and appreciate the world beyond our own.
The Joy of Experiencing It Together
As much as I enjoy discovering new destinations, sharing those discoveries with my family makes the experience even more meaningful.
There is something wonderful about exploring an unfamiliar city together, exchanging impressions, enjoying new foods, taking photographs, and collecting stories that will become part of our family history.
Those are the moments I treasure.
More Than a Destination
Vietnam is becoming much more than another place on my travel itinerary.
It is another chapter in a life filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and appreciate the beauty of different cultures and human connections.
And as our journey continues beyond Hanoi, I know there are more stories waiting to be told.
Because sometimes the greatest gift of travel isn’t simply seeing somewhere new. It’s discovering something meaningful along the way.
With gratitude,
Pia Copeland
